Patch Testing in Allergic Contact Dermatitis

Patch Testing in Allergic Contact Dermatitis

The top left photo shows redness, scaling, and thickened skin on several of a person's fingertips (close-up, top right). Patch testing showed a strong reaction to 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) (bottom left; close-up, bottom right). This chemical is contained in a thread-locking glue, which this person touched at work.
